Liberty Square Riverboat

Liberty Square Riverboat with Haunted Mansion in backgroundbrought to you by John Hayes at www.warnerwoodphotography.com

I never new the river in the Magic Kingdom had a name. According to the official Walt Disney World website “Liberty Square Riverboat is an authentic 3-tiered paddlewheel steamship journey that circles the Rivers of America at Magic Kingdom theme park for a scenic, half-mile tour of Frontierland, Liberty Square and Tom Sawyer Island.”

I captured this image from the dock adjacent to Splash Mountain looking down the Rivers of America. I liked the hint of the Haunted Mansion in the background. One of those nice cool down attractions to beat the Florida heat. I can say I have never been on the riverboat ride; but that will change on the next visit.

I didn’t have to do much to this image out of the camera other than a little contrast adjustment in NIK Color Efex Pro 3.0 and a little lightening in Lightroom.

Leaves on Bark

Leaves framed on the bark of a treebrought to you by John Hayes at www.warnerwoodphotography.com

I captured this earlier in the year when Spring was just peeking out. I spotted this vine and leaves climbing up the tree. Right around the corner from my home is the Del Rio Road area. Just a great place for nature imagery.

I thought a black and white conversion would isolate the leaves against the tree. Let me know your thoughts.

Disney Christmas lamp

Christmas Lamp at Disney's Animal Kingdombrought to you by John Hayes at www.warnerwoodphotography.com

When it comes to the Disney Friday feature I seem to be on a Christmas theme lately. I captured this image during last Fall’s trip to Disney when Christmas was in full swing. There is nothing that screams Disney in this image but I liked the simple clean traditional look of the wreath, the lamp post, and the small green night illuminated in the lower right corner. I think all three elements play off each other to give a nice well balanced image. Another detail from Animal Kingdom.

Until next time…..

Vintage Volvo

Vintage Volvo Nameplatebrought to you by John Hayes at www.warnerwoodphotography.com

Your Middle Tennessee Photographer always carries his camera with me. While out looking at new homes I pulled up next to a vintage Volvo that was in great condition. While my wife was “encouraging” me to get in a look at the house I was able to frame up a few exposures of the car’s nameplate. Not the greatest capture ever but I think it captured a little of the vintage feel.

I used the neutral preset in Nik’s Silver Efex Pro 2 and boosted the overall contrast and structure. I think I may have another personal project here; just sayin.

Chevrolet at Disney

Chevrolet at Walt Disney World's Yacht Club Resortbrought to you by John Hayes at www.warnerwoodphotography.com

This week’s Disney Friday featured image has me torn; is it really Disneyish enough for my Friday feature? That’s up for debate. However here it is.

I little trick I have for getting into EPCOT especially later in the day for dinner reservations is to park at the Disney Yacht and Beach Club Resort and take the nice leisurely walk to the rear entrance of EPCOT. No lines and usually no problems. Well out in front of the Yacht hotel is this antique Chevrolet car that has to date back to the 20′s I would think. I can’t seem to find any specific info. on the car so if you know please share in the comments. This is a close up image of the nameplate on the front grill converted to black and white with NIK Silver Efex Pro 2.

I thought is was interesting and the specular highlights on the top of the logo kind of give it an old world look. Thought it was interesting….what do you think.

Swimmer

Swimmerbrought to you by John Hayes at www.warnerwoodphotography.com

For those of you that follow me know that I rarely post portraits and other than family pictures I rarely take any. And for those of you that try and use your family as practice probably have as many images of palms facing the camera as I do!!

This is a portrait I am pretty happy with. I really like the determined look in his eyes as he gets ready to swim his event. Nothing brings out concentration and competitiveness more than swimming against your friends. A really think the high key effect helps to draw the viewer to his eyes.

Please let me know what you think.

Dumbo the Flying Elephant

Dumbo the Flying Elephant in Fantasylandbrought to you by John Hayes at www.warnerwoodphotography.com

Your middle Tennessee Photographer publishes another Disney Friday featured image. With the new Fantasyland opening bit by bit we were able to ride Dumbo on our latest visit. It may be old news but looks like there will be a second Dumbo attraction right next to the current with an interesting queue line. We’ll just have to wait and see.

While waiting in line I noticed all the detailed intricate ironwork on the top of the ride and tried to isolate the double D along with the elephant; Dumbo of course. I didn’t do much in the way of post processing other than a little saturation and toning down of the blown out sky. Just another Disney detail for your Friday enjoyment.

Cottonwood Clubhouse

The Cottonwood Clubhouse at Duskbrought to you by John Hayes at www.warnerwoodphotography.com

This is an HDR image of our Cottonwood Clubhouse. I processed this image three years ago and really liked the way it came out. Not to digress but I go through and process images in no particular order so that images captured years ago can get processed now with all the skills and tools I have now. I got this tip from Trey Ratcliff. Check out Trey’s work at StuckinCustoms.com.

I think the side view, along with the depth of the lights really gives the image a good dimension. All in all a nice image. Let me know what you think.

Disney Trilo Bites

Trilo Bites at Animal Kingdombrought to you by John Hayes at www.warnerwoodphotography.com

Bringing you this week’s Disney Friday featured image is your Middle Tennessee Photographer. On my recent Disney trip I once again spent a few afternoons wondering Animal Kingdom. Details, details and more details were my focus. Also I really enjoy the challenge of finding new details even after all these visits. This one is from Dinoland and is the Trilo Bites building.

With this composition I wanted to capture three layers. I have the sign that is extended out from the building, then your eye goes to the lower left corner with the lightbulb that is flush with the main structure, and then the roof and slightly darkened background. Did the image guide you through the image the same way?

I converted the image to black and white with NIK Silver Efex Pro 2 and reduced the brightness on the background trees with the adjustment brush in Lightroom 3. Still haven’t upgraded yet.

Grape Crusher from Chile

April 17th, 2012    Posted in Travel

Chilean Grape Crusher Attackedbrought to you by John Hayes at www.warnerwoodphotography.com

Your Franklin Tennessee Photographer gives you an antique grape crusher from Chile. On a recent trip to Santiago we visited the Santa Rita vineyard for lunch and a wine tasting tour. In a beautiful setting the vineyard has scattered antique equipment around the grounds as a stark contrast to the bold, modern museum and production facility. Getting up close to the wheel on the crusher this needed to be in black and white. I also liked the smoothness of what the birds contributed against the rusted aged metal.

I will have another image from this visit next Tuesday.
